COVID-19 Face Mask Project
We have joined with other concerned citizens around the country in an attempt to address the shortage of N95 masks needed for healthcare workers and others, including elders, people with preexisting conditions, and other at-risk groups.
We manufacture face masks with our 3D printing equipment based on an open source design to assemble, package, and ship them throughout the country. With ongoing availability restrictions on N95 masks and filter material, we use Halyard H600 filter material based on a face mask design recently created and shared by the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine as shown here.
According to testing done by the University of Florida -
“The material is thought to be superior to the common surgical mask in its ability to block aerosols and droplets, including water, bacteria and other particles. Although the Halyard H600 material has undergone rigorous testing and has been assigned a filtering (N ) rating by the manufacturer, it has not, to our knowledge, been tested for use as a breathed air filter by any regulatory body. Although it is not rated as an N95 for filtering breathed air, we do subject it to the same particle filtering test we use for commercial face masks and find that with a properly fitted, snug mask, it appears to provide similar particle filtering properties as commercial masks. Again, this has not been rigorously studied by any regulatory body. We recommend that you be fit tested before using the mask for protection in the same way you would be fit tested for a commercial N95 mask.”
DISCLAIMER: We are not a regulated face mask manufacturer and this is not a regulated, certified, or official mask or any sort. We ensure proper fit only and offer no warranty, implied or otherwise, about the air flow or filtering performance. This product was developed to provide a viable alternative to home made masks. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Recommended Kwanzaa Products
The African American Cultural Center – Los Angeles / (Us), the founding organization of the Kwanzaa holiday recently selected Virtual Design & Prototyping as an exclusive supplier of Recommended Kwanzaa Products as indicated on the Official Kwanzaa Website.
With that, we design and manufacture a range of products related to Kwanzaa and the Nguzo Saba (the Seven Principles), and African / African American culture in general. To facilitate this, we created a new website – http://www.kwanzaa.net – and organized a subsidiary known as the Ubuntu Products Company – which operates an e-commerce store at http://www.kwanzaa.shop.
Our product offering will expand to include additional Kwanzaa and Nguzo Saba themed products this year, including culturally themed products not directly associated with the holiday.
